Check Mate

Teacher of this refined game,
Deserves an award…
Played over with many and one,
He knew the game well,
To play on the dark boxes,
Ponds as distracters,
He greatly guarded his queen,
Slow, trusting student played with heart not mind,
A costly mistake,
Surprised failure made one run away,
With only the basic lessons,
Afraid of another confrontation,
Another humiliation,
Teacher wanted more,
What joy is there for one win only?
Came for one heart,
Enticed with little words,
He knew this one very well,
So they sat down,
Ready for another go at it,
Curiosity reigned in the mind of the student,
What lies in the mind of this great?
To conquer this game,
A dream in the hopeful heart,
A longing in this naive heart,
The great was great,
Played with mind and not heart,
But he was good,
He knew what he wanted,
To get the queen,
The student left queen exposed,
And so he kept wining and wining,
And so the hope died,
The longing eroded
And the one was crushed ultimately
With the smile on the face of the teacher
Each time he raised his face, smiled and said
Checkmate…
